3 Unusual Things to Do in San Miguel de Allende
You've been to el Jardín, seen la Parroquia, & gone up to the Mirador. You've checked off the top 10 things to do in San Miguel de Allende according to everyone else on the internet. Now what? Trust us, you won't find these 3 unusual - and adventurous - things to do on anyone else's list.
#1 Gravity Works
If you've ever wanted to run off and join the circus, this is the place for you. Trapeze, hoops, aerial silks & more. Like many places in San Miguel, schedules aren't posted online, but it's possible to drop in or arrange classes for both kids & adults.
How to get there: Gravity Works is located along the Caracol libramiento, up towards la Luciérnaga mall. It's along a busy road, not good for walking, plus it's a bit hidden, so a taxi is your best best.
#2 Float @ Float Sano
There are precious few places to experience floating in Mexico, and none (that we know of) have 2 float pods like we do at Float Sano. If you've never floated before, it's both unlike anything you've ever experienced and likely one of the most relaxing experiences you'll ever have.
The float pod is filled with 10" of warm water that is saturated with 1000 lbs of Epsom salt. You float effortlessly, and sensory input is diminished, resulting in maximum physical & mental relaxation.
How to get there: Float Sano is located 3 1/2 blocks from the Jardin at Hernandez Macias 12, between Organos & Calzada de la Luz.
#3 Parque Juarez Parkour
Most visitors to San Miguel de Allende find their way to Parque Juarez, as it's the terminus of a scenic stroll from la Parroquia along calle Aldama, one of San Miguel's original cobblestone streets.
Parque Juarez is San Miguel's #1 recreation space. There is a playground for the kids, a few basketball courts, and paths for running & walking with exercise equipment sprinkled alongside. All of these are easily found.
But, tucked in the west/northwest corner of the park is....a parkour course! It's so far off the beaten path that it only took us a decade to realize it was there (and we're not exaggerating).
How to get there: Entering the park from Aldama, continue straight past the playground until you see a bridge on your right. Cross the bridge and look for a (slightly hidden) basketball court on your right. Walk past the court and voila! Parkour.
